Easter Card

Easter is early this year!  Are you ready?

This card is very different from the type of card I would normally make.  I tried to capture the dark and gloom of the death and burial of Christ and then to bring the joy and beauty of Easter morning when the women found the tomb of Jesus empty.

The tomb of Jesus The front of the card is made with Stampin’ Up! papers Basic Black and Basic Gray cardstocks.  I used a gate-fold card – where the card opens in the middle of the front.  On both sides of the opening, I used the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder #127751.  For the rock rolled in front of the tomb, I used a light gray cardstock and cut it into an oval shape.  I sponged the edges and the “rock” with Stampin’ Up! Chocolate Chip Classic Ink to give the rock a textured and rough look.

My hope was to create new life and joy when the dreary card opened…

The inside of the card features Stampin’ Up! Pink Pirourette Cardstock #111351 with Stampin’ Up! Rose Red Classic Ink and Stampin’ Up! Classic Black Inks #126980.  I also added some butterflies cut from Stampin’ Up! Rose Red cardstock #102544 using the Beautiful Wings Embosslit #118138.  The single stamped image is a flower from the Flowering Flourishes clear-mount stamp set #126367.

I hope I accomplished my goal of getting what I was thinking from my head to my hands in creating this card!  And I hope that you have a blessed and beautiful Easter as you celebrate this glorious day!
