The ladies in our church have put together some baskets of goodies for the students returning to college in the next few days and weeks. It was my job to come up with a decorative label for each one to coordinate with the baskets. I always get the FUN jobs! And I love it!
I am so impressed that Stampin’ Up!© is in touch with the industry standards for colors and textiles. When I go to the stores dealing with textiles, I see that the Stampin’ Up! In-Colors are the colors that are in style! It never fails and I am always so amazed! How did they know that?!
That is the case for these baskets the ladies put together and for some of the items in the baskets such as towels, wash cloths and more. That made it more FUN for me to make the name tags with some embellishments from my Stampin’ Up! supplies. I love Stampin’ Up!….have you ever heard me say that before?!
I love adding texture, layers and dimension to things. So making these flowers is so much fun.
The flowers are cut from the Stampin’ Up! Bigz L Die – Fun Flowers #121812 on the Big Shot. (I love this machine!) #113439. I cut flowers and the label in 4 different colors to coordinate with the basket. I used Midnight Muse #126843, Summer Starfruit #126839, Lucky Limeade #122926 and River Rock #108640. I mixed and matched the colors so that each flower used multiple colors.
To create the texture and dimension in the flowers, I used this technique. Once you have the flowers cut from the cardstock, spray each piece of the flower with water; Scrunch up the wet paper and then lay it back out and make your layers. Don’t smooth it out too much. While the paper is still wet, you can bend the pieces of cardstock and work with it to get the look you want. Once you have your layers together, use a piercing tool to poke a hole in the center and attach together with a brad. The cardstock dries pretty quickly, so you don’t need too much extra time when working with this technique. I usually make 3 or 4 at a time and the next one is always ready to work with by time I get to it.
Try these flowers on your next project and let me know what you think!
All of these items and more are available in my on-line store!
